Six years later, the Ba-Vi classic once again decides the Bahian Championship title. The first game takes place this Sunday (31), at the Barradão stadium, in Salvador. Both Tricolor de Aço and Leão da Barra finished the first phase with 19 points, six wins, one draw and two defeats. However, due to having a better goal difference, Bahia ended up at the top of the competition.
In the semi-final, Tricolor won both matches against Jequié: the first by 1-0 and the second by 4-1. Meanwhile, Vitória won the first match against Barcelona de Ilhéus by 2-0. In the semifinal game, Back at home, they also won 4-1.
The balance between the teams can also be seen in the direct confrontation. In the first phase of Baianão, Vitória won 3-2 at Barradão. Shortly afterwards, Bahia came back in the group stage of the Copa do Nordeste and won 2-1 at Arena Fonte Nova.
Speaking of which, the last round of the Lampions League group stage further heightened the rivalry between the clubs. Even if they lost their game against Botafogo-PB, Bahia was already guaranteed the lead in Group B. Furthermore, Belo’s victory could still eliminate Vitória.
Said and done: Tricolor entered with the under-20 team and lost 4-0. Although Leão won their game against Treze, the team was overtaken by Ceará and is out of the final phase of the Nordestão.
