More than 20,000 users in India, around 46,000 in the UK and more than 42,000 in Brazil have reported issues with the platform.

WhatsApp, the messaging application owned by Meta, suffered an outage on Wednesday, April 3, according to the website Downdetector.com. This results in an inability to send messages, but also to receive them. Calls are also impossible.

About 12,000 U.S. users have reported issues with the messaging platform, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages by collating status reports from a number of sources, including errors reported by users on its platform.

Global outage

More than 20,000 users in India, around 46,000 in the UK and more than 42,000 in Brazil have also reported issues with the platform, according to Downdetector data. Around 4,800 people also experienced issues with Instagram in the United States, according to Downdetector.

While the various services gradually become available again, Whatsapp has indicated on “some people face problems” and promises to work “100%” to the complete recovery of the platform.

Last month, hundreds of thousands of users of Meta’s Facebook and Instagram sites were affected for more than two hours following an outage caused by a technical problem.
