It is no coincidence that his surname is linked to that of one of the most successful Neapolitan singer-songwriters on the Italian music scene: he is, in fact, the nephew of Gigi D’Alessio.

Already last year he took part in the most important singing festival in Italy alongside LDA, his cousin, and many had already noticed a certain resemblance to the D’Alessio family. This year he once again came to Sanremo to direct the performance of another artist from his homeland, Geolier. On Friday, during the covers evening, Gigi himself will join Geolier on stage.

Born in Naples in September 1979, Francesco D’Alessio is the son of Pietro D’Alessio, Gigi’s brother. He is an established arranger, lyricist and producer in Campania. During his career he has collaborated with various artists, well known in the Neapolitan area. In particular, he was the one who produced three albums by the singer Rosario Miraggio. He has also collaborated with Mario Merola, Gigi Finterno, Sal Da Vinci, Michael Thompson, Lucio Dalla, Renato Zero and Massimo Ranieri.

Geolier’s performance in Sanremo

That moment that the entire city of Naples was waiting for has finally arrived: Geolier enchanted the Neapolitan people with his performance during the first evening of the Sanremo Festival. Visibly moved, in his very elegant and sparkling dress, Geolier joined Amadeus and Mengoni on stage, giving voice to his land by singing a piece entirely in Neapolitan: ‘I p’ me, you p’ you.
