This Monday, May 6, the management of Miss Universe Mexico issued a statement reporting the dismissal of Cynthia de la Vega as National Director of the organization, and the appointment of actress and model Martha Cristiana Merino as its new head. .

This adjustment in leadership has been officially announced arguing the need to more closely align the course of the pageant with its mission and vision.

The decision to replace De la Vega, who held the position for less than six months, was described as the result of a detailed evaluation process.

Although the specific details of her departure were not provided in the statement signed by Osmel Sousa, advisory president, the organization expressed its gratitude for the time Cynthia dedicated to leading Miss Universe Mexico.

“After an exhaustive evaluation, it has been determined that a change in the national leadership of Mexico is necessary to continue advancing the mission and vision of the organization in the country,” reads the text where Martha Cristiana is introduced as the new director. .

For her part, Cynthia de la Vega shared, through a statement released the same day, that her departure was motivated by discrepancies between recent changes within the organization and her personal values.

He emphasized the importance of family values ​​in his life, which influenced his decision to resign. “It is with deep sadness that I announced the official separation of my position as National Director of Miss Universe Mexico, due to various changes with respect to what was initially proposed to me and that conflict with my principles and values,” she expressed.

Osmel, who has been part of Miss Universe Mexico only since last April as “advisory president”, is a Cuban-Venezuelan beauty queen trainer who has given Venezuela during his work for almost 50 years a notable number of queens worthy of several international beauty titles.

Known as “The Tsar of Beauty”, he has been in charge of selecting several young women who seek to make their way in the world of pageants and since the 70s he has been in charge of preparing and advising them, which is why it is common to see him in catwalks serving as a judge in contests where he contributes his knowledge on the subject.

Defined as a “missologist”, the 78-year-old businessman, designer, former model and advertising artist was also Artistic Director of the channels Radio Caracas Televisión and Canal 8 of Venezuela.

As an actor who graduated from the Horacio Peterson Academy, Osmel acted in plays initially in Maracaibo and then in Caracas, and in soap operas such as The Forgiveness of Sins, Cosita Rica and The Perfect Woman.

Osmel has said that his parents separated him from his roots by moving him from Cuba to Venezuela to start a new life when he was a teenager, and even subjected him to hormonal treatment to make him “more manly,” due to his personality.
