Yeison Jiménez, popular music singer, was invited to the radio station “Los 40 Principales” for an interview in which several topics from both his personal life and his artistic career were addressed.

A response during the development of that talk generated an intense conversation on social networks.

Yeison Jiménez’s controversial response

The interviewer, Roberto Cardona, asked the singer if he has ever been afraid for his life. “Not today because the people I had problems with know that I know everything about them and people love me a lot, both the good and the bad.”

“So if they did something to Yeison Jiménez, God forbid, it would be a horrible mistake, but none of them would be left alive, that is clear. In other words, in this country I am one of the people who love me the most and there are people who have a lot of power who know that if they touch me they will go to death, simply because of the feeling they have towards the popular artist (…) “Everyone loves me, the good ones love me, the bad ones love me (…) everyone adores me, so they know that messing with Yeison Jiménez, unfortunately, is putting a tombstone on your neck.”

After the commotion that was generated, the singer took to his social networks to explain what happened: “I was checking networks and there is something that I have always considered myself good at and that is to recognize my mistakes (…) I have the obligation to come to tell you that if I screwed up, I made a comment that was unnecessary. I come to tell the people I made uncomfortable with my comments that I’m sorry.”

How much does Yeison Jiménez earn per concert?

In another, less controversial moment of the interview, the singer talked about the amount of money he earned when he started his career, compared to how much he earns today and how the music industry has changed. “The first shows were sold for $80,000 and $150,000, which were in clubs and bars in Bogotá. Then, I lasted for a while at about $20 million, which was when like three little songs stuck to me.”

In addition, he made reference to the current moment of the industry and the payments that can be generated. “Nowadays artists are very good, they release two songs and can earn $100 million with three songs. I reached $100 million when I was seven years into my career, with 20 hits, so I tell them ‘it was very easy for you.’ And today I am charging well, never before has a popular music artist earned $180 or $200 million. Why do I charge them? Well, because I sell them, people like to go to my concerts, they fill up, so this is not about whoever earns the most, but about whoever represents them.”
