This morning, shortly before 10, a man attacked several people with stab weapons, including some three-year-old children, in a park near Lake Annecy, in Haute-Savoie, France. Six people, according to the first leaked information, were injured. Four are children and three of them are serious. The attacker has already been arrested by the police. According to witnesses cited by the local press, he wore a turban. It would be a Syrian asylum seeker.
The Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, confirmed the arrest with a tweet “thanks to the timely intervention of the police”. The French premier, Elisabeth Borne, will travel to Annecy today. Deputies and members of the French government observed a minute’s silence in the National Assembly. The initiative was taken by the president of the Assembly, Yael Barun-Pivet, to be close “to them and their families after this very serious attack”.
