Willem-Frederik Schiltz, faction leader for Open VLD in the Flemish Parliament, is given second place on the European list among the Flemish liberals. It was previously announced that Hilde Vautmans will draw that list. Guy Verhofstadt, Maggie De Block and Bart Tommelein push the list. Youth chairman Sepp Tyvaert is the first successor. The party reports this.
Hilde Vautmans from Limburg was appointed as party leader for the European elections last year by the Open VLD party board. European figurehead Guy Verhofstadt had previously indicated that he would say goodbye to active politics. The Flemish liberals currently have two seats in the European Parliament.
The Open VLD party board has now also approved the rest of the candidate list. Flemish faction leader Willem-Frederik Schiltz ends up in second place – after a lot of discussion about the Antwerp electoral lists last year. Former mountain biker Filip Meirhaeghe is also on the list (fourth place). The list is pushed by two ex-ministers: Maggie De Block and Bart Tommelein.
Among the successors, four young people are in the first places. The first successor is Jong VLD chairman Sepp Tyvaert. Among the successors, the list is pushed by former Prime Minister Guy Verhofstadt and by entrepreneur and ex-senator Roland Duchâtelet.
