Former Flamengo goalkeeper Ubaldo Fillola standout member of the Argentina team that won the 1978 World Cup, had his apartment broken into and the gold medal he received for the title stolen.
Fillol, considered one of the best Argentine goalkeepers in history and decisive in the Albiceleste’s first World Cup, first had his car key stolen while having dinner at a restaurant in the Floresta neighborhood, in Buenos Aires. When leaving the place, he found himself missing his documents and house keys.

When he arrived at his apartment, he found everything ransacked and realized that the medal from the 1978 World Cup title, the most important of his career, had been taken.
Police confirmed that the apartment door was not broken into and launched a robbery investigation in the absence of residents.
– It’s a tremendous pain, I feel exposed in the face of the growing insecurity we face. They also took replicas of the shirt from the final against the Netherlands, but what hurts me most is the medal – Fillol told the channel Todo Noticias.

Regarding the ongoing investigation, the former goalkeeper said that “a person was seen in the video”, but that he was unable to identify the thief.
– They got my address from inside the car – he explained.
Fillol, 73 years old, was Flamengo’s goalkeeper between 1984 and 1985. In addition to the Rio club, he played for Quilmes (1969-1970), Racing (1971-1974), River Plate (1974-1983), Argentinos Juniors (1983) and Atlético of Madrid (1985-1986), before retiring at Vélez Sarsfield (1989-1990).
