Goldman Sachs has entrusted € 300 million to the Italian headquarters of B&B Hotels for the development of the chain in Eastern Europe and Italy. “In the first phase, the expansion plan involves Hungary, with a hotel that will be inaugurated in a few days in Budapest, two renovation projects in Slovenia for almost 14 million, one in Croatia for 9 million while the Group is evaluating the opportunities with interest that Bulgaria offers where we have some negotiations underway in the main destinations – anticipates Valerio Duchini, president and CEO of the Italian branch with responsibility for the region -. Our strategy also includes the participation of financial and / or real estate partners. The budget is allocated and calibrated on the basis of the opportunity to the reference market ». For the landing in Eastern Europe, Goldman Sachs has entrusted Duchini with 100 million. The new hotels will follow the management and design models of the Italian ones, starting with the furniture that will almost always be all made in Italy.

The remaining 200 million are allocated to the Peninsula, resources that will be used for other acquisitions along the lines of the operation at the end of June which involved the four structures of the Mini Hotels Group in Milan. «By the end of the year we will probably add about ten hotels to our portfolio» continues the CEO of B&B Hotels Italia. As for the summer season, Duchini’s balance sheet is more than positive. “The revenues per room have approached 95% of the 2019 value which for many summer destinations including Savona, breaking latest news, Palermo, Naples, Affi (near Lake Garda ed), Cortina d’Ampezzo and Bolzano has reached over 97% – continues the president -. In addition to the Germans, the French and the Dutch, we saw the return of the Americans mainly in art destinations such as Rome, Florence and Naples ». As for customers in the business segment, SMEs and professionals who are worth about 65% of revenues from the beginning of the year, arrivals continue for Duchini. “We have an expectation of recovery for the last quarter of 2021 thanks to the restart of the fairs in attendance – he adds -. Different speech for those of multinationals and large corporations which, due to internal rules, have seen a strong reduction in business trips and the implementation of smart working with the introduction of video conferences and online meetings ». Customers who according to the CEO will resume traveling from the beginning of next year. The positive trend recorded in the summer months bodes well for the coming months. “We have promising expectations for the winter, both for the cities of art and the mountain resorts. The Italian clientele will still predominate with the local European clientele. From November we expect the return of American customers but for those from the Far East we will have to wait until the second half of 2022, with the restart of direct flights ».
