Xinhua News Agency, Shanghai, April 28 (Reporter Xu Dongyuan) – The 2024 Archery World Cup Shanghai came to a thrilling conclusion on the 28th as the Chinese team emerged victorious over perennial rivals South Korea in the women’s recurve team finals, securing the championship title.

The Chinese team, comprised of Li Jiaman, An Qixuan, and Yang Xiaolei, showcased a mix of experience and new talent throughout the competition. In the individual category, Li Jiaman clinched a bronze medal for the team.

Following their victory, emotional and proud Li Jiaman expressed, “I was very excited when I heard the national anthem during the award ceremony. In today’s game, the three of us were very united and had unwavering belief in each other. Moving forward, we will continue to train diligently and stay grounded.”

Mu Yong, the leader of the Chinese Archery Team, emphasized the importance of high-level competitions like the World Cup in honing the skills and mentality of young athletes. Guo Bei, honorary vice president of the Asian Archery Federation, commended the growth of archery in Shanghai and China, attributing it to the Archery World Cup’s presence in the region since 2006. While the Chinese team shone in the women’s recurve team category, South Korea’s Lin Shiji clinched the individual championship, and the mixed team title. Additionally, the Indian team secured the men’s recurve team championship and claimed four gold medals in the compound bow category. Spanish player Mediel emerged victorious in the men’s recurve individual tournament.
