RUEGLIO

The Fai 2021 Autumn Days are born by chance, as often happens for the most successful initiatives, which, on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17, from 10 to 17, will take place in Valchiusella, in Rueglio, also expanding to the neighboring municipalities of Valchiusa and Val by Chy. A case that translates into the fortuitous meeting, a few months ago, on the occasion of an appointment of The Places of Canavesana Maestria, at the Castle of Masino, between the Mayor of Ruegli, Gabriella Laffaille, distinguished professor at the University of Turin, and the head of the delegation Fai from Ivrea and Canavese, Carlo Arborio Mella. The latter, overwhelmed by the professor’s passion for the Municipality she administers and which she has in Kà ‘d-Mezanis, a bourgeois residence dating back to the 15th century, and in the figure of the poet scientist Pietro Corzetto Vignot, two excellent topics, in addition to the landscape and the natural environment in which it is inserted, to make it an ideal pole of attraction for tourists even at km 0, did not hesitate to be infected by the interest in this mountain area of undoubted charm, a short distance from Ivrea, in which, among the other, lives Sofia Lo Brutto, architect and group leader Fai Giovani Ivrea and Canavese.

The local Fai delegation, therefore, willingly moved to turn on the spotlight, in the two Autumn Days, on Rueglio, Valchiusa and Val di Chy, places that contain works of art, an atelier of woven cashmere creations by hand on ancient wooden frames and a house-cabin with chapel, votive shrine and frescoes made by the Valchiusello painter Giovanni Vacchio, in 1824.

“They are places off the beaten track, away from the clamor, but pervaded by enchantments and landscape views, united by a strong identity of a mountain territory also proud of productive realities, with a view to careful and right slow enhancement of their traditions – summarizes the head Arborio Mella delegation, on the occasion of the official presentation of the Days, held yesterday, Thursday 7, right in the Kà ‘d-Mezanis, in what was the hall of honor of the residence of the Bondesio family, extinct in the eighteenth century, the coat of arms of which stands out on the wall where originally there was a large fireplace. In addition to the mayor Laffaille, in Arborio and Lo Brutto, the following took part: Edoardo Accornero, owner of Accornero Cashmere, in Val di Chy; Giovanni Luciani, owner of the frescoed hut, in the locality of Gattere, in Valchiusa; Cesare Targhetta, councilor of Val di Chy; Guido Zenerino, deputy mayor of Valchiusa; Paola Rostagni, certified tourist guide by the Piedmont Region.

“In Rueglio – recalled the mayor – in addition to the Kà which houses the permanent exhibition dedicated to Vignot, poet and inventor of the Metidric Sphere, the ancestor of the submarine, it is possible to visit the seventeenth-century parish church and, along the streets of the village, perhaps tasting local specialties, numerous small handicrafts of ceramics, painting, carpets, as well as the Tree of the Witches. And, by car, bicycle or with the gig that will be available, reach the Piani di Cogna, enchanted plateaus immersed in mountain peace, and Mount Sinai, from whose summit you will admire a breathtaking view ».
