TREVISO. There are already 500 rescue interventions put into practice by the Wildlife Rescue Center of the Province of Treviso only in the last month, since the new agreement that provides for the management entrusted to CRAS Treviso started. An activity resulting from the union of 6 associations well rooted in the territory (European Hedgehog Project, Lav, Leidaa, Lipu, Oipa, WWF).
The activity of the CRFS which is based in the Parco della Storga has never stopped, but the lack of personnel had put in difficulty the only recovery activities which now, after the agreement with the animal welfare associations, have resumed at full capacity so as to exceed half a thousand interventions. Among the animals recovered in this first month of activity: birds of prey, ungulates, rodents, hares, birds of various species and even a wild boar and a pomeranian. Currently, 130 are hospitalized at the Center.
“The Province of Treviso continues to be operational for citizens and also for the protection of animals – explains Stefano Marcon, president of the Province of Treviso – if on the one hand our Provincial Police fights a hard fight against poaching every day, on the other the Wild Fauna Recovery Center represents a flagship that the whole of Veneto envies us and the numbers shown by the first management of the CRAS testify how delicate the period is. Then I thank the animal welfare associations for their commitment and, as always, I invite citizens to report any situations of wild animals in difficulty. Finally, I would like to remind you that the agreement with Comunica for the management of the Storga Park also includes activities with the Recovery Center, obviously always in full respect of the host animals that must be protected and not disturbed “.
“The work is demanding but we are on the right path. Large projects can only be realized with the utmost collaboration and this is the case – explains Michela Dugar, manager of the Center – The Province of Treviso has shown the courage and trust in a project innovative, providing the know-how of the body of its Provincial Police. The period is challenging also because in addition to the injured animals, there are many recoveries of typical spring pullets, pulles that must be weaned manually and very frequently “.
