TURIN. “Our commitment to these workers does not fail. We held the interviews and identified the people to whom we will be able to offer an opportunity within our companies, as promised during the election campaign. Now we are awaiting the last formal passages of the rule that was provided for by the government to finalize its inclusion ”. Paolo Damilano, an entrepreneur born in 1965, today in opposition in the Sala Rossa with Torino Bellissima, expected faster times to give legs to the promise of hiring in his former Embraco workers’ companies.
Did you expect greater responsiveness from this relocation plan?
“The opportunity comes from a rule inserted in the maneuver and wanted by the Ministry of Economic Development that allows employers who hire workers from companies for which crisis tables are open at Mise with a permanent contract, to obtain the total exemption from social security contributions. I expected that things could unlock in a few weeks, but my parents tell me that the legal limits for finalizing these inputs are not yet defined. We have already identified the people who could do it for us, but we are unable to hire them “.
Some time ago you said you notice a city and an immobile territory, are you still of the same opinion?
«For some time our territory has no longer been able to give answers to workers. Turin was the Mecca of work, everyone came here because they knew there were opportunities for growth. Today the situation is completely different ».
The former Embraco: “Don’t forget us”. Only 13 have a new permanent job

Ex-Embraco workers struggle to find stable employment, when job opportunities arise they are often precarious.
“It is the result of a serious lack both on the part of politics, which in the past has messed too much around the Embraco affair, but also concerns the world of entrepreneurship. I continue to think that our territory must unite and network to give a future to these people, who have been deluded for too long, who after an entire working life do not deserve to have to live with ultra-temporary contracts “.
Is enough being done for these people?
«I am a bit perplexed about the attitude of other entrepreneurs in the area because if it is true that it is often politics that does not know how to offer answers, it is equally true that even those who work in the corporate sector could give more. After the invitation of Bishop Nosiglia to come forward I would have expected much more participation ».
