There are 17,744 new cases of Coronavirus positivity registered in the last 24 hours, 6,232 fewer than the 23,976 detected yesterday. The figure is based on 160,995 swabs, compared to 231,931 the previous day (both rapid antigenic tests and molecular swabs are considered).
Compared to 7 days ago, when there were 27,162 new cases, the figure recorded today marks a decrease of 34.7%.
The victims of today
The daily report released by the Ministry of Health and Civil Protection at 5.10 pm today, Sunday 22 May, also counts 34 victims, 57 fewer than the 91 recorded yesterday. Compared to the number of deaths recorded on the same day last week (62), today’s figure is down by 45.2%.
The rate of positivity
The “positive rate”, that is the ratio between the total number of swabs performed and those that are positive, in the last 24 hours has risen to 11.02%: it was 10.34% 24 hours ago.
However, today’s figure is down compared to that recorded 7 days ago, when the positivity rate was 13.96%.
