SACILE. The kitchen catches fire while he sleeps and his neighbors save him. It is the bad adventure experienced at dawn on Saturday 12 June in Strada dei Vido by a Colombian tenant.
“We heard the crackling of the fire that woke us up around 5 in the morning and a strong smell of smoke: we were alarmed.” This is how the neighboring apartment at number 21 / A reconstructed the facts: in the suburban building of Strada dei Vido she raised the alarm, with a family on the first floor.
“I have two girls and I was scared when I heard that acrid smell and the sound of the fire that came from the nearby apartment on the ground floor – said the woman -. I suddenly fell asleep and with the family on the upper floor we called the fire brigade ».
Minutes of panic over the fire that developed in the kitchen: the 25-year-old Colombian was asleep and heard nothing.
“The flames spread from the refrigerator – indicated the neighbor -. Our neighbor was sleeping soundly and hadn’t noticed anything. He faded to our screams.
The firefighters arrived quickly and put out the fire. The young man was alone at home, since his relatives are often absent for work: he accused a slight illness from smoking and was accompanied to the hospital ».
At 5.30 am three fire brigade teams from the Pordenone command arrived in Strada dei Vido and put out the flames that had spread in the kitchen of the apartment on the ground floor.
The firefighters gave first aid to the tenant, who had been awakened by the other condominiums: he was able to open the door of the house, but he inhaled the smoke.
“We all went out of the house – the tenants added – while the firefighters secured our building”. The 118 health workers, who took care of the Colombian boy, were also on site.
“The fear has passed – the condominiums concluded – and our neighbor is fine too. We have thrown open the windows, the doors of the building to let out the smoke and we hope not to find thieves in the house ». It could have been a lot worse.
“Luck assists us and we are back to normal after the nightmare wake up call.”
The causes of the fire are being examined by the fire investigation unit of the fire brigade command. –
