Victory in the finals for Maria Centracchio at the golden score and for the women’s sword team
TOKYO. Two more bronzes for Italy at the Japanese Olympics. The first medal came thanks to Maria Centracchio, third in 63 kilograms judo, after winning the match against Dutch Juul Franssen at the golden score.
Centracchio fought with great determination while the Dutch, renouncing, was punished with two yellow cards during regulation time and with the third at the golden score, which decreed the success of the blue, second bronze in these Games in judo.
The other medal came from the women’s sword team, which had been eliminated in the semifinals by Estonia. In the final for third place, the blue overcame China at the end of a very exciting match, which ended at 23-21.
The blue team was made up of Rossella Fiamingo, Federica Isola and Mara Navarria, and the last of the three Fiamingo matches was played by Alberta Santuccio. In the medal table, Italy climbs to 11 podiums. With these two third places the total is in fact 1 gold, 4 silvers and 6 bronzes
