According to the report, the US Department of Justice wants to sue Apple

What exactly the allegations relate to remained unclear at first. However, hardware device makers like smart tracker maker Tile have long accused Apple of restricting the use of iPhone sensors while Apple develops its own competing products that have better access. Apple began selling Airtags, which can be attached to items like car keys to find them if lost, several years after Tile launched a similar product. Similarly, Apple has restricted access to a chip in the iPhone that enables contactless payments: credit cards can only be added to the iPhone through Apple’s own Apple Pay service. Apple has long argued that it limits third-party developers’ access to certain user data and iPhone hardware for privacy and security reasons.
