Aidda celebrates 60 years of commitment to women in business in Turin

by admin

Sixty years of history and commitment to support women entrepreneurs. Aidda, the Association of Women Entrepreneurs Company Executives, celebrates in Turin, the city where it was founded in 1961, with an event dedicated to the “strength of women for transformation”. To tell, as President Antonella Giachetti does, “that there is no more time, the challenge of equality is not a question of justice or economic development, it is a need that the pandemic has made emerge even stronger”.

This is because Covid-19 has increased the burden of family care on the shoulders of women, who have paid a heavy bill in the world of work. “The survey carried out by Unioncamere as part of the National Business Report in general – recalls President Giachetti – highlighted an important element, women have been held back in the desire to set up on their own by the pandemic and have shown a greater need for economic and financial support, they were also less confident than men with respect to a rapid return to productivity ».

After years in which in each quarter female businesses recorded higher growth than male ones, between April and September this greater speed was canceled out, due to a more marked fall in the birth of new businesses in the second quarter (-42.3% for women against -35.2% for men), a trend that also occurred in the last quarter of the year.

«The emergency – Giachetti insists – has exacerbated the delays and contradictions. Our society has relegated care to the family dimension with a burden for women and a deficiency at the system level, as the covid has shown ». In the name of 800 companies, 12 and a half billion in turnover and 35 thousand employees, Aidda therefore calls for a clear reversal of the trend, which moves the theme of care to the public level to free creativity and autonomy of women.
