The new Alfa Romeo Milano will be unveiled on 10 April 2024. It is now official although in the meantime development tests continue at the Stellantis group’s experimental center in Balocco, where a team of Italian engineers is refining the dynamics of the model, under the guidance of Domenico Bagnasco, responsible for validating the dynamic synthesis of the vehicle after having already taken care of the developments of other Alfa Romeo sports cars such as the 8C, 4C and Giulia GTA.
The final setup in view of the launch
One of the focuses to be developed in the tests is to find the right set-up to guarantee the new compact crossover excellent dynamics, with targeted and specific interventions on the suspension group in harmony with the brand’s DNA. Obtaining direct and precise steering for the Milano for typically Alfa driving dynamics is the declared objective of the team which is working in the final phase of testing. Stefano Cereda is in charge of the complete Alfa Romeo Milano project.
Performance, durability and comfort in using the car
At the forefront of the development of the diesel engines of the Giulia and Stelvio, his last work before accepting the management of the Milan project concerned the development of the 280 hp Plug-In Hybrid Q4 engine of the Tonale. Another prominent figure is Luigi Domenichelli, who takes care of the technical development of the vehicle: the engineer must integrate and validate all the subsystems of the new car in terms of both performance, but also durability and comfort in use.
Produced in Poland together with Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600
Not to mention the pleasure of driving, one of the most strategic design sectors to offer ergonomics at the top of the category starting from the optimization of the man-machine interface. The Milano wants to have its own personality, different from its sisters Jeep Avenger and Fiat 600, with which it shares the same platform, but also the production location which is in Thicy in Poland where the new assembly lines are in an advanced stage of being set up.
All the engines of the Alfa Romeo B-suv
The Milano will be available not only in the battery variant proposed in two versions of 156 hp and the sportier 240 hp which could be called Quadrifoglio, but also with the new 1,200 cc mild hybrid 100 hp 3-cylinder engine with gearbox only double clutch. Also probable is a light hybrid twin-engine variant and all-wheel drive, in which the 1,200 turbo engine acts on the front wheels while the other electric motor moves the rear ones.
