Apple Car, cupertino seeks agreements with CATL and BYD for new generation batteries

by admin

Apple is targeting the new batteries as one of the preconditions to kick off the project (at the moment only hypothetical) of an electric car.
It seems, according to rumors that the Cupertino company wants to use the lithium-iron phosphate accumulators still in gestation. This is a solution that Tesla is also evaluating due to the fact that they would be much cheaper given the greater availability of iron in circulation, but as a contraindication they offer reduced autonomy.
A fixed point, at least with CATL, would be Apple’s insistence on the construction of a production site in the US but the battery manufacturer is skeptical on the basis of the tensions between the US and the Chinese government.

Central autonomy in Apple’s EV project

Apple has not yet officially confirmed its plans for its future electric car, but the CEO of the brand, Tim Cook has recently stressed the importance of autonomy, hence the need to have batteries at the highest levels in this sense. The giant of the technology industry is in the meantime preparing to conclude a joint venture with the new entity managed by Magna International and LG regarding electric motors. If Apple really decides to kick off the project, it won’t be the only smartphone manufacturer to put it in the pipeline.

Apple like Chinese smartphone makers

In fact, several smartphone bands, especially Chinese, such as Xiaomi and Oppo, have for some time expressed their intention to enter the mobility sector of the future. According to reports from several analysts close to the Californian brand, Apple has already set a deadline in this regard which should be 2024 for the possible start of production of one or even more vehicles for the transport of passengers. A choice not yet made for many reasons including the many internal resistances that push, instead, to definitively abandon a company considered risky.
