Avianca to Launch Historic Direct Flights from Comayagua, Honduras to Bogotá, Colombia
Comayagua, Honduras – Avianca, the Colombian airline, is set to launch direct flights connecting Palmerola International Airport in Honduras to El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá, Colombia, marking a historic event for the country. Starting next week, the route will operate three weekly flights, providing Honduran passengers with the opportunity to seamlessly connect to over 70 destinations across South America and Europe.

Marlon Amador, Country Officer of Avianca for Honduras, emphasized the significance of this new air link, stating, “This is a very important route on the region’s connectivity map, and with our three new weekly flights, we are boosting the options for Honduran customers.”

Tickets for the Palmerola-Bogotá flights are already available for purchase on the Avianca website. The inaugural flight is scheduled for October 31, offering more than 1,000 weekly seats for travelers. Avianca has introduced a promotional fare starting at $114 each way, averaging $228 for a round trip.

Explaining the promotional rate, the Avianca executive commented, “Like any new route, this one has a promotional introductory rate that starts at $114 per section, including taxes.”

Flights from Bogotá to Palmerola will be operated on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, departing at 9:44 pm (Colombia time) and arriving at 11:34 pm (Honduras time). On the other hand, flights from Palmerola to Bogotá will depart on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, at 1:35 am (Honduras time) and arrive at El Dorado Airport at 5:25 am (Colombian time).

The Avianca executive highlighted that this connection will allow Hondurans to reach approximately 15 destinations within Colombia, in addition to offering numerous connections to South America and Europe. He indicated, “We seek to consolidate the offer via Bogotá to destinations such as Medellín, Cali, and Cartagena in the interior of Colombia and to cities such as Buenos Aires, Santiago de Chile, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Lima, Montevideo, even Barcelona, Madrid, and London.”

Peter Fleming, Palmerola’s Air Connectivity Development advisor, also expressed his satisfaction with the growth of Palmerola airport and the significance of this new route. He stated, “We are very happy with the growth that Palmerola airport is currently experiencing. This new Bogotá-Palmerola route is historic because it is the first time that Honduras will have a direct connection with South America.”
