BlackRock buys Global Infrastructure Partners for $12 billion

BlackRockthe world‘s largest asset manager, announced the purchase of Global Infrastructure Partners for approximately $12 billion in cash and stock.

The acquisition is part of the company’s growing focus on infrastructure, which CEO Larry Fink says represents “one of the most attractive long-term investment opportunities.” As part of the deal, GIP’s management team will lead an infrastructure private markets investment platform at BlackRock.
