Bper and Carige: stocks up in Piazza Affari awaiting the Modena bank verdict after no Fitd

by admin

Bper and Carige shares rise in Piazza Affari, awaiting the outcome of the meeting of the board of directors of the Modenese bank which, as reported by Il Sole 24 Ore, will meet again today, evaluating how to resume negotiations with the Fitd, the interbank deposit protection fund which holds the majority stake in the Ligurian bank.

Yesterday, in the formal communication sent to the Bper board of directors, the Fund repeated what it communicated a few days ago, when it had written that “the expression of interest (by Bper) has terms and conditions to be explored which, at present, in particular, as regards the level of recapitalization required for Carige, it does not comply with the statutory provisions (article 35) relating to interventions of the type in question “.

Bper actually presented an expression of interest in acquiring an 88.3% stake in Carige, of which 8.3% held by Cassa Centrale Banca and 80% by the interbank fund.

The offer provides for the FITD to recapitalize the bank in advance, which would be taken over at the symbolic price of 1 euro.

At this point, the no of the Fitd forces Bper to review its offer, also because, the Confindustria newspaper recalls, the Fitd could pay out a maximum of 600-700 million euros, and not the billion initially requested by the Modena bank.
