A brazen home robbery in Barrio Obrero, Santurce left a couple tied up as criminals made off with $10,000 in gold coins and $6,000 in $2 bills. The incident occurred in the early hours of yesterday on Magnolia Street, as detailed in the police report.
According to the report, the couple was asleep when four masked individuals armed with firearms entered their residence by breaking the lock on the door leading to the laundry room. The criminals proceeded to tie up the couple before stealing the valuable items from a safe.
Among the stolen items were $2 Federal Reserve notes from the 1976 series, featuring the image of Thomas Jefferson. The case was assigned to Agent Gabriel Alicea of the Santurce district, who has passed it on to the Robbery Division of the San Juan Criminal Investigation Corps for further investigation.
In other news, a 74-year-old man has been reported missing, and three men are accused of attacking a sergeant and a police officer. Additionally, a father and son were shot in Ponce. The police are actively investigating these separate incidents.
