New seizure for building abuse in Milan, in via Lepontina, Isola district. The investigation, coordinated by the Milan Prosecutor’s Office, concerns the demolition project of a pre-existing 2-storey building (11.95 m) used as offices and laboratories and the construction of a new 7-storey residential tower building (21.95 m ) for 61 apartments.

The project already approved by the Municipality of Milan

The project, approved by the Municipality of Milan as a renovation – therefore with the SCIA self-certification rather than as a new construction – resulted in multiple violations of the urban planning regulations for the investigators, an underestimated quantification of the urbanization costs and an illicit increase in the volumes and surfaces achievable without the preparation of an implementing urban planning which would provide for the creation of additional works to compensate for the standards of the residents already settled in the area.

Nine suspects

There are 9 people under investigation, including the manager and two managers of the One-Stop Shop for Construction, the president of the Municipal Landscape Commission at the time who failed to point out the discrepancy in the project based on the PGT
