Car incentives, stop the eco-bonus for electric and hybrid. The supply chain: “We risk stopping sales”

by admin

Gone are the incentives to buy electric cars and plug-in hybrids. And at the moment – according to Ansa reports – no refinancing is foreseen. On the basis of the ad hoc portal of the Mise, funds for petrol and diesel vehicles with low CO2 emissions remain available.

In essence, buying an electric car today by taking advantage of the incentives is not possible. However – qualified sources explain to the agency – “responsible work on ecological transition” continues in a logic of balance between “protection of industry and social repercussions”.

The stop to resources for electric and hybrid generates the reaction of the insiders: the account of non-registrations could reach up to 40 thousand, says Francesco Naso, general secretary of Motus-E, an association that groups together all the stakeholders of electric mobility. «We can lose 20-25 thousand electric vehicles and another 15 thousand plug-in hybrids – explains Naso – The risk therefore reaches a total of 40 thousand vehicles. There is uncertainty about 2022, linked both to the lack of incentives and to problems with raw materials and chips for the industry; the risk is that the Italian market may no longer be attractive ».

«It is a real misfortune that has arisen in this situation», the words of Gian Primo Quagliano, president of the Promotor study center. For Quagliano an immediate solution is needed with a refinancing and then perhaps a broader and more structural choice in Maneuver. «The diffusion and the strong interest in the electric car should not be whipped – he observes – this interruption of incentives would be highly damaging both from a pragmatic and a psychological aspect. The solution is that the government adopts a measure as soon as possible to refinance the bonus to solve the problem for the whole of 2021. Or we could think of an intermediate solution that could be to intervene to split the 57 million now on the extra -bonus, and cannot be used without activating the eco-bonus, so that there can be both the eco-bonus and the extra-bonus. Even if these are resources that should be burned in a very short time ». Then, concludes Quagliano, “in a broader way a solution would be needed, perhaps in the Maneuver, which would make these incentives permanent”.

“The end of the incentives for electric cars will certainly cause a halt to the sale of this type of car, also because the price delta is still significant,” notes Gianmarco Giorda, director of Anfia. He asks that a solution be reached as soon as possible: “All over Europe the incentives work and in Italy they have worked too – he observes – we hope that in the next few weeks these resources will be made available again, perhaps taking them from the extra-bonus which has 57 million , and which in any case cannot be used, because it is a complementary fund to the eco-bonus; you could get 30-40 million, and that would be a buffer solution. Then – he continues – in a couple of months incentives should be identified with the Budget Law for the next two or three years, also to facilitate the ecological transition since the incentive is not the only factor but is one of the most important”.
