Carioca prepares to land in the US with revenues up 14% to 33.6 million euros

Carioca flies to the United States. The historic Piedmontese company of felt-tip pens and tools for creativity continues its path of relaunch and growth by archiving 2021 with a growth in turnover of 14% to 33.6 million euros with a margin of 11%. Sales are mainly driven by exports, which account for 75% of revenues with a boom in turnover in Spain (+ 32%), while in Italy the progression was 18%.

“A growth supported by various factors, first of all the great ability to combine heritage and innovation while maintaining a particular focus on sustainability” commented Enrico Toledo, president and CEO of the company who then added: “On the product front we have strengthened ourselves with everything the product portfolio, starting with our flagship products, markers (+ 18%) and pencils (+ 31%). The great success of 2021 were the most innovative products, such as erasable pens (+ 55%) and Temperello (solid tempera from a Carioca innovation) which recorded + 46% ».

«Even the new sectors have recorded excellent results: consolidated the presence in Scandinavia, a difficult market that Carioca has managed to conquer by positioning itself in a playful-creative context of the most innovative children; and Turkey, which always remains the first country for sales in the Baby sector »underlined the general manager Giorgio Bertolo.

And now, the company looks ahead: the first step is the landing in the USA, then sustainability. “Precisely in 2020 Carioca launched its project for sustainable development, with the aim of establishing itself as a leading company in the sector on the issues of social and environmental sustainability” says Toledo, underlining that it is a “path that has allowed the launch on market of an Ecofamily line and the progressive reduction in the consumption of virgin plastic. After an initial saving of 80 tons of fossil plastic in 2021, a further increase of over 50 tons of plastic from packaging is expected in 2022. PVC has been eliminated from all CARIOCA packaging in favor of a reuse and recycling policy ».
