China-built cargo ship 60 meters longer than the world’s largest aircraft carrier unveiled at sea-IT and traffic

The manufacturing capacity of power equipment is an important indicator of national strength. China is the only country in the world that has all the industrial categories listed in the United Nations Industrial Classification. In 2017,China ShipThe Industrial Group and CMA CGM officially signed a contract for the construction of 9 23,000 standard container ships.

Now, this cargo ship, which can be called the Big Mac at sea, has made trial sailings. The 23,000 standard container ship has a length of 399 meters and a width of nearly 62 meters. The deck area is equivalent to 3.5 standard football fields. This is more than 60 meters longer than the largest aircraft carrier in the world.

The most amazing thing is its capacity, with a full load of nearly 220,000 tons, which can load 23,000 standard containers at a time. This ship has the world‘s largest marine internal combustion engine-covering an area close to a standard basketball court, reaching a height of 16 meters, equivalent to a five-story building, and weighing more than 2000 tons.

Such size and weight have reached the limit of existing processing equipment. Once installed, large marine crankshafts cannot be replaced for life. Due to the extremely difficult design and processing of oversized butt crankshafts, the development of China’s shipbuilding industry has been restricted for a long time.

Today, China not only has the ability to develop and manufacture independently, it is also constantly setting new world records in size and weight.
