As the new director of the Berlin-Brandenburg Broadcasting Corporation, Ulrike Demmer wanted to put the Patricia Schlesinger scandal behind her. But now the station manager herself finds herself entangled in the affair that she thought had been overcome. She confirmed that the RBB editor-in-chief was not part of Schlesinger’s inner circle of power – but according to research by Business Insider, this appears doubtful.

As the new director of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB), Ulrike Demmer wants to put the affair surrounding the former station director Patricia Schlesinger behind her.

But now Demmer is apparently getting involved in the affair himself. She confirmed that RBB editor-in-chief David Biesinger had never been part of the management of the public broadcaster.

In doing so, the station manager supports the line of defense of the editor-in-chief, who claims to have known nothing about dubious events. But research by Business Insider makes this seem doubtful.

A good two years have passed since the Patricia Schlesinger affair began at Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB). The then director had to leave after allegations of nepotism and wasteful use of contributions money. The events at RBB revealed by Business Insider plunged not only the station, but the entire public broadcasting system into a deep crisis.

Meanwhile, Ulrike Demmer, the current RBB director, is trying to put the Schlesinger affair behind her. After taking office last fall, Demmer said: “I want to look forward with this station.” The institution recently presented an “image study”, the results of which were that only one in ten of those surveyed associated the RBB with the crisis.

But now Demmer is apparently getting herself entangled in the affair surrounding her predecessor.

What did the last top manager of the Schlesinger era know about the former director’s crimes?
