Confindustria, Assolombarda against Gozzi: “Senseless statements”
Assolombarda takes sides against Antonio Gozzi and asks, between the lines, for his expulsion from the team of Emanuele Orsini, president in charge of Confindustria who will officially sit in the chair on Viale dell’Astronomia next May 23rd. In a letter – which Affaritaliani.it was able to view – sent to Orsini and the outgoing president Carlo Bonomi there is even mention of “disconcertion in reading, in three different newspapers on Friday 19 April, as many interviews with Antonio Gozzi as Special Advisor in the new Presidency team of Confindustria”. The letter also speaks of a “series of serious statements, in clear contrast with the constitutive and ethical values of Confindustria as well as offensive towards of the last four Past Presidents of our Association, including the late Giorgio Squinzi”.
In the letter, the association led by Alessandro Spada recalls how it has never questioned the credibility and authority of Confindustria. And today from Via Pantano there is a strong demand for great responsibility to protect the interests and values of the Italian industrial system. But there are passages from the interviews with Gozzi (already stigmatized by much of the Confindustria system) who really haven’t already gone to Assolombarda.
Which in fact attacks with his head down, “replying to the senseless statements expressed in the above interviews, I must reaffirm clearly and unequivocally that Assolombarda is not a “Milan salon” nor even “governs from behind” but is, with a great sense of responsibility and profound awareness of belonging, the first territorial association of the Confindustria System as well as the first taxpayer of the same”. A real trip in which Assolombarda shines its medals: every year, in fact, from the chests in Via Pantano come just under four million euros in contributions. In addition to the fact that Assolombarda’s “weight” is almost 11% of the total votes.
And, in conclusion, Orsini is asked to monitor dialogue, discussion and, ultimately, respect. The new Confindustria team is already formed, but the activism of Gozzi, appointed special advisor but without roles within the council, raised more than one eyebrow. Someone, internally, is starting to ask for a referral to the arbitrators of the owner of Duferco, hoping that his role will at least be curtailed. Anyone who thought that once the battle for the nomination was over, a “pax” could be achieved in Viale dell’Astronomia was greatly mistaken. The strong tensions remain. As well as the waste of an electoral campaign which, like never before, did not spare low blows in all directions.
