Forza Italia is taking action against food waste, with a bill aimed at promoting the use of the so-called ‘doggy bag’, to take home leftovers from a restaurant lunch or dinner. On Wednesday 10 January, the blue party announces, in the press room of the Chamber of Deputies, at 2.30 pm, Giandiego Gatta, deputy of Forza Italia and national head of the Fisheries and Aquaculture Department of Fi, with the president of Forza Italia deputies, Paolo Barelli will present the bill entitled ‘Mandatory doggy bag’, together with the Environment and Rural Culture Clubs. ‘
«The objective of the proposed law – explains Gatta – is to contribute to combating food waste, one of the objectives set in the UN Agenda 2030. In Italy, according to data from the Bdfn Foundation, each of us wastes 65 kg of food per capita per year, for bad behavior in consumption, at home and in restaurants”. «The practice of the ‘Doggy Bag’ has been in use for some time in the USA, in Europe it is already mandatory in France and Spain. Introducing it in Italy too would not only be an act of common sense that would help combat food waste but would also have a social and solidarity purpose and this is the objective of my bill.”
