During an interview with Bloomberg TV, ECB President Christine Lagarde said that the PEPP, the asset purchase program launched last year to counter the economic effects of the Covid-19 pandemic in the euro area (known also as pandemic QE), could be followed, once it reaches maturity, by a new format of monetary support.
Lagarde also announced that, in July, the ECB will work on a revision of the forward guidance.
“Given the determination we need to demonstrate to make our commitment effective, forward guidance will certainly be revisited,” said Lagarde, particularly at the next ECB meeting, scheduled for July 22.
