by admin

Volvo aims to become an electric-only car manufacturer by 2030 and plans to launch a new range of 100% electric cars in the coming years as part of one of the most ambitious electrification programs in the automotive sector. It also aims to become a climate-neutral manufacturer by 2040. Logic was therefore Volvo’s choice to activate an ultrafast charging station in Milan in the Portanuova district, which since 2017 has hosted the Volvo Studio. ElectricCity electric mobility exclusive for the Milan area.

Ultra-fast charging is 150 kW and is open to everyone

The ultrafast Volvo Recharge charging station inaugurated in the immediate vicinity of the Volvo Studio and clearly visible even for an original architectural solution is equipped with a Delta UFC200 column with two DC charging sockets and can recharge an electric vehicle with a power of 150 kW. The manager of the infrastructure and the Charging Point Operator operating system is Duferco Energia. Plugsurfing is, on the other hand, the E-Mobility Service Provider, the partner of Volvo and one of the main European providers.

The expected price was set at 0.35 euros / kWh

In an initial initial test phase and until the end of November, it will be possible to load at the Portanuova station only with a Plugsurfing or Duferco account. Then, once the various roaming necessary have been activated, the possibility of recharging will be extended to other providers. Recharging with the Plugsurfing account is at a price of 0.35 euros / kWh, guaranteed in this first phase of the project both of course for users of Volvo cars, but also of other brands. A specific service for residents and companies of the area

Finally, ElectricCity is a dedicated service for electric mobility that Volvo Car Italia activates for residents and companies operating in the Portanuova area in Milan. The dual objective is to respond to the mobility needs of a public that is sensitive to sustainability issues and to provide a tool that allows to contain and reduce CO2 emissions. A fleet of 15 Volvo XC40 Recharge full electric will be available to the public. Each car can be rented for an estimated time from 1 hour to 3 days. After three and a half hours of use, a daily rate will be applied which however promises to be advantageous.

The ElectricCity service can be activated from an app

The service will be accessible through an app within the app package of the Portanuova district in Milan. The Volvo Studio Milano will be the coordination center of the service. Compared to private residents, the ElectricCity service aims to be an evolved response to the various travel needs related to daily life, thus overcoming the simple concept of actual car-sharing. From a business point of view, the ElectricCity project is proposed as a tool capable of managing mobility in a sustainable manner, including from a corporate perspective. The new ElectricCity service will be active starting from April 2022.
