The Bundestag will debate the future of agriculture in Germany on Thursday (from 9 a.m.) under the impression of massive protests by farmers. The traffic light groups want to request the federal government to develop concrete measures to support farmers by the summer break. The focus is on reducing bureaucracy, financial support for animal welfare and the development of alternative drives for agricultural equipment.
A motion from the Union parliamentary group, on the other hand, primarily calls for the cuts in agricultural diesel subsidies, which farmers have also demanded, to be withdrawn. The next day of the plenary session will focus, among other things, on the implementation of the EU law for digital services, securing the gas supply, setting up a hydrogen network and simplified rules for generating electricity with plug-in solar devices, for example on balconies.
