Somaliland’s Minister of Information, Culture and National Orientation, Ali Mohamed Hassan, alias Ali Marehaan, mentioned that Ethiopia has reworked its consular workplace in Hargeisa, the capital of the small Horn of Africa state, in an embassy.

In an interview with BBC Somali, Hassan Mohamed confirmed the announcement made by President Musa Bihi Abdi, throughout a speech on Saturday on the celebrations of the thirty third anniversary of self-declared independence from Somalia.

There remains to be no official assertion confirming the replace from the Ethiopian authorities, writes Addis Standard. However, in a brand new spherical of appointments introduced by Ethiopia final week, the envoy to Hargeisa, Delil Kedir Bushra, was included among the many ambassadors.

Diplomatic relations between Ethiopia and Somalia have sunk to a brand new low following the January 1 signing of an Addi Ababa and Hargeisa memorandum granting Ethiopia entry to the ocean for a navy base in change for recognition of Somaliland .
