Kobayashi Pharmaceutical Recalls Red Yeast Rice Products After Health Issues Arise
In a recent development, Kobayashi Pharmaceutical, a leading Japanese pharmaceutical company, has announced an urgent recall of three health products containing red yeast rice. This decision comes after reports of consumers experiencing health problems such as kidney disease after consuming the company’s red yeast rice products. The company revealed that 4 people have died and 106 individuals have been hospitalized after taking the aforementioned health products.
The incident, referred to as the “problematic red yeast rice” controversy, has raised concerns in Japan and beyond, shedding light on the potential risks associated with functional foods.
