With the elastic thread for the masks produced from 2020 to today, 4.5 laps around the world are made: 185 thousand kilometers. The Penelope that wove it: FRA Group, 60 years of activity in the manufacture of elastic nets for the food and medical sectors. Three factories in Dusino San Michele, 2 in the USA, the Group closed 2021 with a growing budget (about 22 million) and a package of hires that “will continue in 2022”, announces CEO Andrea Colombo. In the last 10 years the Group has invested around 25 million. The main projects are in Dusino with the construction of the office building and two new factories with 4.0 technologies. In 2018, the US company Beocare was acquired with two production units in North Carolina.
“Today the total production area of the Group exceeds 27 thousand square meters, we sell our products in 68 countries”, underlines the CEO. There are 230 employees, of which 120 in Dusino. “In 2021 we included about twenty figures, now we expect to hire at least 12 people, including mechanical maintenance workers, general workers, warehouse workers”, continues Colombo. The medical sector accounts for 47% of the turnover. The leading product is Surgifix, the elastic tubular net to hold gauze and dressings patented in 1962 by Giuseppe Mignone, founder of FRA. In December, the company launched Cwash, the automated oral hygiene device created by startup Plus Biomedicals. Made with an innovative polymer with a gradual release of menthol and xylitol, it allows you to brush your teeth in 30 seconds without water or toothpaste.
