Alphabet is also postponing employees’ voluntary return to office until January next year. This was stated yesterday by CEO Sundar Pichai, citing the uncertainty caused by the pandemic in many parts of the world thanks to the rapid spread of the Delta variant which is making companies reconsider their recommendations on use of a mask at work and vaccination policies. “Beyond January 10, we will allow countries and localities to make decisions on when to end voluntary homework based on local conditions,” Pichai said in an email to employees.
Previously, the parent company of Google had postponed the return to the office from September to October.
In recent weeks, Amazon.com, Apple and Lyft have also postponed return timings to 2022 for US workers due to the pandemic.
