The offers of electricity produced from renewable sources, capable of eliminating polluting emissions, are increasingly widespread on the market. But can opting for a green supply also be a way to save? According to the latest survey by SOStariffe.it, savings with the Green tariffs for electricity can reach around 117 euros per year, compared to the Maggiore Tutela tariff, and 48 euros on other free market tariffs.

The survey calculated the annual cost for light incurred by a typical customer resident in Milan, with an annual consumption of 2700 kWh of electricity. If the customer wishes to subscribe to a single-hour fixed rate, he will find it convenient to activate a free market offer (spending an average of 410 euros per year). A tariff of this type, in fact, remaining in the most protected market would prove to be a drain (on average 546 euros per year), but not even a green tariff of the free market (whose average cost is around 428 euros) would not be too convenient.

It is the only case in which the offers of light from renewable energies prove to be less convenient than other solutions. Let’s take the case that the same consumer is instead looking for a fixed bi-hourly rate. Under the enhanced protection regime it would cost him 561 euros. While in the free market the cost will be 493 euros which will drop further to 481 euros for green promotions.

The variable rates also confirm the convenience of green offers compared to other promotions on the free market. If you want to subscribe to a single-hour variable rate, you will face an annual cost of 546 euros in greater protection which is reduced to 524 in the free market. If we then opt for a green offer, the annual expenditure to be faced drops again, up to 496 euros.

The same applies if the customer wants to choose a two-hour variable rate: it is unthinkable to spend 561 euros in the higher protection regime when you can pay 543 euros per year in the free market or save even more until you get to spend 495 euros every year. for an offer of light from renewable energies.
