In August 2023, I decided to consolidate my retirement funds into a single account.
The 401(k) process took almost six months. It was tiring and lengthy.
While I regretted it, a CFP told me it was the right decision and gave me his best advice for making the transition.
Last August, I wanted to check off a financial plan that had been on my list for far too long: transferring a 401(k) plan from a previous employer to my current 401(k) plan.
My main motivation was consolidating my retirement funds. About four years of savings were in a Fidelity account and two more were in a Vanguard account.
