A new calculation by the Munich Ifo Institute comes to the conclusion: Working is still worth it. “The claim made by some politicians that those who only receive social benefits receive more net than a low-income earner is simply wrong,” says Andreas Peichl, head of the Ifo Center for Macroeconomics and Surveys. To prevent this, there would be “free allowances for employed people when counting them against social benefits,” according to the institute’s statement.
