“I’ve always invented machines. I was 20 years old and had no experience when Olivetti, already after my first half hour of work, sent me to the department where the cards for the first personal computer were tested. I had to invent the equipment suitable for testing. I had just graduated, I never had a degree, but since I was a child I have been an inventor ». Luciano Bonaria is the volcanic soul of Spea, a model company from Volpiano that creates “the machines of the future”: all the machines that are used to test technologies that have yet to be developed or that require maximum reliability. The company is ready to invest 50 million in the Turin area and is planning new production plants.
What will you be aiming for?
“We are now working to create the machines that will test the next generations of microelectronic components in the car and next-generation cell phones.”
Why is it the right time to invest?
«We are forced to grow otherwise we lose customers. And so we have to invest to continue to be competitive. We have no intention of relocating, we want to sell Made in Italy and create wealth in our territory ».
The company is among the suppliers of Apple, Bosch, Marelli and Medtronic. Are you worried about the semiconductor crisis?
“After the summer we have recovered very well because the world is making great strides in technology and is always in need of new machinery. We are struggling to find materials but fortunately for now we have not had repercussions that have blocked us. Without microchips, planes do not fly, aqueducts stop, daily life is blocked and it is no longer possible to think that they are produced only in the East. This is why it would be important to find a way to attract Intel to the Turin area ».
