Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, Japan, it rose 0.81% to hit a new one-year high.
The best performers of the session were Nippon Seiko (TYO:), which rose 13.53% or 105.00 points to trade at 881.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Shinsei Bank (TYO:) added 8.55% or 221.00 points to end at 2,806.00 and Toyo Seikan Group Holdings, Ltd. (TYO:) was up 7.90% or 158.00 points to 2,158.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rakuten (TYO:), which fell 9.05% or 64.00 points to trade at 643.00 at the close. Olympus (TYO:) declined 6.77% or 165.00 points to end at 2,273.00 and Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (TYO:) was down 5.12% or 165.00 points to 3,060.00.
2065 stocks on the Tokyo Stock Exchange rose, and the number exceeded the number of stocks that closed down – 1602. At the same time, 193 stocks did not rise or fall, basically flat.

The implied volatility, which measures Nikkei 225 options, rose 1.02 percent to 15.78.
WTI crude oil futures June options contract prices fell 0.03% (0.02 points), to $ 70.02. On the rest of the futures front, the London Brent crude futures contract for July delivery was down 0.11% (0.08 points) at $74.09, while the June gold futures contract was up 0.17% (3.45) at $2,023.25.
USD/JPY was up 0.17% at 135.95, while EUR/JPY was up 0.39% at 147.79.
U.S. dollar index futures were down 0.14% at 102.37.
