Johnson & Johnson’s goal of obtaining energy from renewable sources, the company said, «is in line with yours health for humanity goals; in particular, its commitment to obtain 100% of the company’s electricity from renewable sources by 2025 and to achieve the carbon neutrality in its global operations by 2030».

Massimo Scaccabarozzi, president of Janssen Italia and head of external affairs of Johnson & Johnson Italy, underlines that «for decades the Johnson & Johnson group has been committed to the environment all over the world. We are very proud of these new agreements with Enel Green Power because they represent, for us, an important step forward to reach the goals we have set ourselves and, together with other agreements previously signed by the company, they will soon allow us to procure the equivalent of 100% of electricity for Europe from “green” sources ».

Innovative technologies

Furthermore, continues Scaccabarozzi, “we continue to employ innovative technologies and techniques to reduce the amount of energy needed to manage our global operations. The energy efficiency initiatives in our research and development laboratories, production plants, warehouses and offices have allowed us to avoid, to date, 300 tons of emissions per year ».

In general, he adds, “companies in the pharma sector report onestrong coherence with the priorities of the G20, which also consider the ecological transition among the global missions. As proof of this, in Italy, pharmaceutical companies reduced energy consumption by 59% in 10 years, compared to a manufacturing average of 17%. Johnson & Johnson, the largest and most branched healthcare company in the world, is also following this trend, including in the activities it carries out in our country ».
