The “14th Five-Year Plan for Industrial Green Development” issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially includes methanol vehicles as green products, and proposes to promote the promotion of methanol vehicles and other alternative fuel vehicles. Li Shufu pointed out that at present, in the field of water transportation, the development of methanol ships has been fully launched at home and abroad to lead the shipping industry to achieve carbon neutrality ahead of schedule. The relevant regulations, guidelines, design, construction and inspection technical standards for methanol fuel ships in my country have been established. The development of methanol green smart ships and marine methanol engines has been supported by major national special projects. Relevant shipyards have started the construction of methanol fuel ships.
Li Shufu said that the development of methanol vehicles in China has a history of more than 40 years. As a low-carbon, oxygen-containing fuel, methanol has the characteristics of efficient combustion, clean emission, and renewable green properties. It is liquid at room temperature and pressure, and is safer and more convenient to store, operate and use than other new and clean energy. At the same time, methanol production has a wide range of sources, huge economic volume, and sustainable development of the entire industry chain, which is an important choice for building green energy in the future.
