Competitions: proving ground for production cars

Formula E will be a technology laboratory that will accelerate the development of highly efficient electrified powertrains and intelligent software for our road sports cars. Indeed, the Formula E championship offers Maserati a perfect platform to show off the brand’s unparalleled sporting tradition and the competitiveness of the Folgore series, in an environment where innovation and uncompromising performance are inextricably linked.

Maserati will make its debut on the starting grid for season nine which will see the introduction of the new Gen3, the fastest, lightest and most powerful Formula E single-seater ever. Featuring a host of design, manufacturing and technological innovations, the Gen3 is the most efficient racing car in the world.

The spectacular Formula E races take place on the streets of the most iconic cities on the planet, including New York, Munich, Berlin, Mexico City, London and Rome. From the very beginning, this competition has made it possible to improve the energy efficiency of vehicles, increase battery range and develop efficient powertrains, enabling the electric cars on the market today to go further with each charge.

Maserati honors in competitions

Maserati was born on the track thanks to the courage of the Maserati brothers and its drivers. The debut in motorsport dates back to 96 years ago. The first racing car to sport the Trident logo on the bonnet was the Tipo 26 driven by Alfieri Maserati, who took part in the Targa Florio in 1926 and took first place in the class up to 1.5 liters. Thirty-one years later, in 1957, Juan Manuel Fangio won the F1 World Championship in a Maserati.
