Microsoft clarified: Windows 11 SKU still defaults to light mode but OEM manufacturers can customize dark mode-Windows 11

by admin

Windows Enterprise Marketing Director Melissa Grant said recently: “All Windows 11 commercial SKUs that are loved by the IT industry will enable dark mode by default.” Later, an official Microsoft spokesperson contacted many technology media including BetaNews, saying that this was an error message, clarifying that the Windows 11 commercial version still uses the light mode by default.

A Microsoft spokesperson said:

Recently, we have passed inaccurate information about the default dark mode enabled on the Windows 11 commercial SKU, and we apologize for this confusion. Here we make a clarification: Windows 11 SKUs are all light mode by default. However, OEMs can choose to ship their devices in dark mode, and customers will have the option to easily customize their experience to dark mode or light mode in the settings. As with all our products, we will continue to listen to customer feedback to ensure that Windows 11 meets the needs of customers, no matter where they are in the computing journey.
