Milan restarts with the Supersalone of design

by admin

All the materials and components of the set-up designed by Andrea Caputo and Stefano Boeri Interiors use a small quantity of chipboard panels, obtained from 100% recycled wood. At the end of the event, they will be put back into the production cycle, with a view to circular economy. In addition, 200 trees donated by the Salone del Mobile to the Forestami project were planted at the entrance to the East Gate of the Fair and inside the pavilions, which will then be replanted in the Parco Nord Milano. Alongside the products of the companies, the Supersalone also hosts areas dedicated to young talents, Food, cultural debates and art, with the exhibition on the Compasso d’Oro.

«It will be a show that will also have a cultural and popular profile, as well as a commercial one – explains Boeri -. We have brought the wealth of the city of Milan to the Salone for the first time and we are happy ».

The Fuorisalone and the restart of Milan

The city goes to the Salone and the Salone goes to the city. For years now, the synergy between the business dimension of the fair and the cultural and entertainment dimension of the city center has become one of the most important features (and one of the major success factors) of the Milanese Design Week, certainly the most important in the sector. internationally.

But this year the synergy is total: on the one hand art, culture, food and the general public also move to the fair, as Boeri observes, on the other, given the limited space at the fair, many companies are organizing presentations to customers and business appointments in their downtown showrooms. The Fuorisalone car started up, also supported by the Municipality of Milan which launched an ideas competition in May to which 75 subjects related to design responded, as well as from all the main design districts that have animated the city for years: Brera, 5Vie, Tortona, NoLo, the Triennale, the Interni events, the new Adi Design Museum …. It is impossible to make a list: the events scheduled until 10 September are over 500 and the economic impact on the city will also be important, even if lower than that of the past.

The impact on the city

This is confirmed by the numbers drawn up for Il Sole 24 Ore by the Research Office of Confcommercio Milan, Lodi, Monza and Brianza, which estimates between 93 and 121 million euros the induced generated by the visitors expected at the Supersalone. A figure that includes expenses for accommodation (between 69 and 90 million), catering (13-17 million), shopping (11-14 million) and entrance tickets to the fair (3-4 million).
