C114 News January 12 (Nanshan) According to the official website of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently announced the “Letter on the Reply to the Proposal No. 5080 of the Fourth Session of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (No. 553 of Gongjiao Post and Telecommunications)”.

It is reported that Ding Lei, member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and CEO of NetEase, proposed the “Proposal on Unifying the Standard Ports of Chargers for Smart Electronic Devices to Further Reduce E-waste and Promote Carbon Neutrality”. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology replied that with the rapid iteration of charging/data interfaces and charging technology, the current smart terminal market has formed a pattern in which USB-C interfaces are the main interface, and various interfaces and charging technologies coexist. As mentioned in the proposal, after the user replaces the device, most of the original chargers and data cables are idle, causing huge waste. Vigorously promoting the integration of charging interfaces and technologies is conducive to reducing electronic waste and improving resource utilization efficiency.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has issued a series of policies, and has done three aspects of work: first, to strengthen the formulation of technical specifications for terminal equipment charging, second, to promote the integration and interoperability of various fast charging technologies, and third, to promote the recycling of waste electrical appliances and electronics.

In the next step, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will continue to promote the formulation of relevant national standards, promote the integration and unification of charging interfaces and technologies, improve the recycling rate of electrical and electronic products, and strive to promote the high-quality development of the consumer electronics industry.
