Lancia Ypsilon, the new electric generation by Cassina on the road
Electric, larger than in the past and with features that wink at the premium segment. Cousin of the Opel Corsa and Peugeot 208, with which it shares the platform, engines, part of the bodywork and a long list of components, the new Lancia Ypsilon presents itself with a personal style and at its debut reveals the new on-board entertainment system. electric with over 400 kilometers of autonomy. The first electric car under the Lancia brand, it will be joined by two new zero-emission models expected in 2026 and 2028. New Lancia Ypsilon size and style
How long is the new Lancia Ypsilon? Over 20 centimeters longer than the model it will replace as confirmed by the 4.08 meters in length compared to the 3.8 meters of the current one. Another radical change comes from the width, which has increased by almost 10 centimeters from 1.67 to 1.76 metres. Another change comes from the weight, more than 1500 kilograms for the electric one. However, the height decreases, from 1.51 to 1.44 metres. First production car to apply the new stylistic course called Pu+Ra Design, (born from the portmanteau of the words “Puro” and “Radicale”). Despite the many points of contact with the Opel Corsa and Peugeot 208, the Ypsilon will stand out thanks to the front where the Lancia writing is present above a modern reinterpretation of the historic grille (called the chalice) combined with three LED strips . At the rear come the round LED headlights inspired by those of the legendary Statos and inside them we find the letter Y which has become a real element of style. The new Lancia logo also makes its debut, which reinterprets in a modern key the elements of the historic brand such as the steering wheel, the flag, the shield, the spear and the writing.
New Lancia Ypsilon interiors
Unveiled in the version produced in a limited series called the Cassina edition, the Lancia Ypsilon features premium interiors. Symbol of this collaboration are the exclusive stylistic details, from the Sapphire Blue color of the exterior to the blue of the interior, from the velvet seats characterized by the “cannelloni” motif, to the multifunctional table bearing the Cassina signature, a new design element, as well as first table used inside a car. the seats, characterized by the “Cannelloni” motif and double stitching, have the seat and backrests in recycled velvet in shades of blue, a historically iconic color for Lancia, while the remaining structure is made of recycled PVC. The same shade is also used in the inserts of the door panels and the dashboard.
Lancia Ypsilon, SALA system
The main innovation comes from the new infotainment system called SALA (Sound Air Light Augmentation), combined with two 10.25” screens (instrument panel and digital radio) which allow the information relevant for driving to be clearly displayed and can be customized both as layout and colors. The technological equipment is completed by the keyless entry and start system, two USB C sockets, wireless charging and wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay connectivity. The operating system is based on Android Automotive OS, uses TomTom satellite maps and has no app store. The Sound Air Light Augmentation, an infotainment that centralizes the audio, climate control and lighting functions, allowing the driver and passenger to adapt the interior environment, with the touch of a button. The air conditioning system is equipped with a high-efficiency filter capable of removing up to 99% of harmful particles for a healthier and more comfortable interior. The lighting inside the car is completely customizable with a simple touch on the display, it is in fact possible to create an exclusive atmosphere in combination with the ambient lighting function.
